December 7, 1941 - 75 years ago today - A Hawaiian military base known as Pearl Harbor was attacked by the Japanese. This attack led the United States into World War II. During this time, the automotive industry was heavily impacted. By Federal regulations, manufacturers were forced to cease making personal and commercial vehicles and transfer all efforts to create vehicles for the military.
